GOD'S SMUGGLER Written by: Brother Andrew Narrated by: Simon Vance Length: 8 hrs and 48 mins Release Date:07-30-09 Publisher: christianaudio.com
This book was a delight to listen to. I had read it many times, as it has many layers to it, but it came alive to me in a fresh way as I listened to it. This is one of the top ten best books I have come across. THE ENDURANCE Written by: Alfred Lansing Narrated by: Tim Pigott-Smith Length: 6 hrs Release Date:05-23-00 Publisher: Blackstone Audio, Inc. TEAM OF RIVALS: The Political Genius of Abraham Lincoln Written by: Doris Kearns Goodwin Narrated by: Suzanne Toren Length: 41 hrs and 32 mins Release Date:05-17-11 Publisher: Simon & Schuster Audio This is a great book about Lincoln, early American history, politics, and the Civil War, but it is perhaps the best book I have read that contrasts pride and humility. HEALING BACK PAIN Written by: John E. Sarno Narrated by: John E. Sarno Length: 3 hrs and 23 mins Release Date:07-27-01 Publisher: Macmillan Audio
I am not sure what to even say about this book, as it was so impacting. It is full of insights into how we function as humans in terms of managing our stress, which comes from suppressing our fears, anger, and resentments which Dr. Sarno shows is the real source of our many infirmities. It is not a “Christian book”, but the author is clearly an man of great integrity. All I know is that everyone should listen to it FRESH WIND – FRESH FIRE by Jim Cymbala This is the story about a church that learned to pray… and became one of the great churches in America. PROPHET ON PURPOSE – The life story of Rick Warren – an amazing story of God’s grace. Rick has a great heart. This books show how God raised him up and uses him in the most remarkable way. THE DANIEL PLAN – by Rick Warren This is such a great health plan. So well written and presented. Everyone should do it. LIVING A LIFE ON FIRE – the autobiography of Reinhart Bonnke This story is nothing short of amazing, showing how God can do things on a scale that is difficult to imagine. This is a real faith booster. Two really good books were written by Dale Carnegie. One was HOW TO STOP WORRYING AND START LIVING and the other was HOW TO WIN FRIENDS AND INFLUENCE PEOPLE . Both books were a bit outdated in some ways, but they were a real inspiration non-the-less. This has been one of the best books I have come across about how to do with fear and worry in our lives.
